Dublin, Ireland Itinerary

Greetings from Dublin! I've been here for one week for work and have absolutely LOVED being here! I have not traveled to Dublin since I studied abroad, which was quite some time ago. My work week was busy, but extremely productive...It was especially nice to finally meet all of my colleagues that I've been working with (some for 5 years) in person. I was also fortunate enough that Tyler finished his finals in time and could join me for a few of the days. While I worked, he had a ball exploring the city and checking out all of the historic landmarks. I put together a shortlist of some of my favorite spots from studying here and thought I would share it with you all in case anyone is planning a trip to Dublin. I've also decided to start keeping itineraries of everywhere we travel to so we can not only look back on our trips but also provide friends and family with suggestions :) If you are planning a trip to Ireland, please feel free to reach out with any questions! Landmarks & Activities

Guinness Storehouse Tour

What: Tour of the Guinness Brewery
Tickets - Buy tickets online ahead of time and save 10%
Getting there: St James's Gate Dublin 8, Ireland 01 408 4800
By foot: On a fine day the best way to get to GUINNESS STOREHOUSE® from the City Centre is on foot. From Dame Street (outside Trinity College), keep straight ahead. Follow the road around, passing Christchurch on the right and leading onto Thomas Street. At Crane Street turn left, and at the end of the road turn right onto Market Street. GUINNESS STOREHOUSE® is on the right. Journey time 20 mins.
By Bus: Bus 123 from O'CONNELL STREET runs every 8-10 mins. Journey time 10 mins. Bus 123 from DAME STREET runs every 8-10 mins. Journey time 10 mins.

What: Impressive stadium for all Gaelic sporting events!This was one of Tyler's favorite spots. You learn so much about Irish sports and the stadium is quite impressive.

Trinity College & The Book of Kells Exhibition

What: Trinity College is one of the oldest colleges in the world and houses a 9th-century gospel manuscript famous throughout the world (The Book of Kells). Each day, a new page is flipped. (Picture courtesy of Google)
Getting There: Just walk to City Centre...It’s at the end of Grafton Street and you can’t miss it!
Tickets: There are student tickets and you can find the opening times here.

St. Stephen’s Green

What: Gorgeous public park with ponds and gorgeous flowers. (Picture courtesy of Google)
Where: Stop of Grafton Street in the middle of City Centre
Notes: It's fun to stroll through or bring a picnic and just enjoy the beautiful scenery.

Grafton Street

What: Dublins’ most popular “high fashion” street full of shopping and cafes.
Where: Extends from College Green alongside Trinity College all the way to St Stephens Green.
Notes: One of my favorite things to do when I studied in Dublin was to travel into City Centre and grab tea on Wicklow Street, which intersects Grafton just before Nassau Street. There are cafes along Wicklow Street as well as Grafton all of which have great tea, coffee, pastries, and sweets.

Walking Dublin’s Coast

What: Dublin’s coastline is absolutely gorgeous and you can take the DART (railway) either to Bray and walk from Bray to Greystone or you can take it to Howth and do the cliff walk there. Both are gorgeous, picturesque towns and highly recommended.
Bray - Bray to Cliffstone is about a 4 mile walk and relatively easy. You will gorgeous views of the Wicklow mountains and Dublin Bay.
Howth - It's a mall fishing village at the tip of Dublin Bay and is absolutely gorgeous. Tyler and I spent Saturday exploring the town and doing the picturesque cliff walk. It was an beautiful day and so nice to get outside!

Pubs

Dawson Lounge - on Dawson street near St. Stephen's Green; smallest pub in Dublin. We met one of my friends from studying in Dublin here. It was so cute and a great place to grab a pint!

Kehoe’s - Located on South Anne Street; it’s considered one of the best bars in Dublin; if you go on a Thursday or Friday it will be wedged outside with a great crowd.
O'Donoghues- Baggot Street - great bar, traditional Irish music
Doheny and Nesbits - across the road from O'Donoghues on Baggot Street.
Grogan’s - on South William Street, great Guiness, no music
Johnnie Fox's - Traditional Irish bar outside of Dublin. It's one of the oldest bars and the highest pub in all of Dublin.
The Exchequer - little more trendy but like a New York bar on Exchequer street

Music

Oliver St. John Gogarty - Located in Temple bar. It's really two pubs in one building and has live Irish music every night of the week. Tyler and I went here Wednesday night and had a great time listening to the Irish music :)

Restaurants
*You should plan to make reservations for dinner as the good places fill up!

Winding Stair - It's just across the Ha'Penny Bridge right on the Liffey. Tyler and I went here Wednesday night, per a recommendation of a coworker, and had such a great meal. We highly recommend giving it a try...It was some of the best smoked haddock I have ever had! Definitely make a reservation ahead of time and try to reserve a window seat.

Fire - Fire is part of the Mansion House on Dawson Street right between Trinity College and St. Stephen Green. It's a really cool restaurant and the food is fabulous! We met my friend Georgina here for dinner and had such a great time. Definitely call ahead to get reservations.

Lemon - It's a crepe house on Dawson Street just before Nassau Street. I would go to Lemon every time I was in City Centre as they have the best crepes. It's no surprise I ventured here for my first dinner in Dublin :) I had a Mexican crepe and it was awesome :) Definitely swing by here while walking around City Centre. The crepes are cheap and really filling.
