We woke up early Thursday
morning, packed our bags, grabbed a quick bite to eat, met our driver and
headed out of Positano to Naples. Our next destination was Rome and we took the
high-speed train from Naples to Rome. We arrived mid-day and headed to our
hotel, La Papessa, in the old historic part of Rome. Our hotel is in the
perfect location to see the Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, and Colosseum. We wanted
a hotel within close proximity to everything as we only had two days here
before heading to Greece. The hotel ended up being perfect!
We dropped our stuff, got the
lay of the land from the receptionist, and decided to make our way to the
Colosseum. Tyler was pretty excited as he loved Roman culture and especially
the movie, Gladiator. Thankfully, there wasn’t a long line and we were able to
get tickets and the audio guides pretty quick. From the Colosseum, we walked up
to the Pantheon and grabbed the famous Granitas from Tazza D'doro.
We then headed back to our hotel to cool down and get out of the heat for a
little bit.
Rome's wedding cake (that's what the hotel called this!)
Ruins along the way...no big deal!

We rested up and
headed to Travestavere, which is such a fun area! There are quaint,
cobblestoned streets lined with outdoor cafes all packed in with people. We
walked along the river before settling on a place for dinner. The food was
excellent and the atmosphere was perfect! And, as expected, we ended our night
with a cup of gelato.
Just some ruins along our walk!
